 Louis Vuitton Journeys: Keith Richards

Some people seem to like this AD. I’m just not one of them. My eyes hurt by looking at how rough Keith Richrads looks. Is it me or does he look like a skip away from death?

A good headline might be… “No matter how long you own a Louis it will never look as old as Keith Richards.”

  • Leveraging music(ians) for branding is about the balance of street credibility and marketing to convey a vision for what's "newest". Displaying a guitar case that costs more than the guitar with a musician as old as the LV logo seems like a move made by a baby boomer marketer who still thinks the Stones are cool. Do women (who make up most of LV's customers - even the wallets buyers) want to be associated with old and wrinkly? Alone in a hotel room?

But I did love the campaign with Uma - especially hip after Kill Bill hit theatres with her running around kicking @ss. Do women want to be associated with beautiful, strong, independent, and kicking guy but on massive scale? Hmmmm.

Yeah... I dunno... he just doesn't feel right to me. The Gorbachev one is magical to me... downright genius... heck, even Steffi and Andre feels right. This just feels forced... like they needed an aged rocker to be hip.
