The “O” in Obama – Campaign Stops Blog – NYTimes.com

Putting all political beliefs aside for a moment I read a pretty good interview on the NYTimes.com with Steven Heller of the NYTimes and with graphic designer Sol Sender that designed the “O” in Obama that became one of the most recognizable political logos in recent history.

For those that know me know I’m not a fan of Obama but I am a fan of good design.

Well, the “O” was the identity for the Obama ’08 campaign and the campaign is over. That doesn’t mean that the mark will be forgotten; I think the memorabilia from this campaign will have a long shelf life and will stand as a visible symbol of pride for people who supported the candidate and for those who see it as a representation of a watershed moment for our country. As far as having another life, I can’t say. Perhaps the 2012 campaign will hark back to it in some way.

Bloggers Ignite Brush Fire Over Weekend, Forcing J&J to Pull Ads, Issue Apology

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) — Johnson & Johnson did manage to offend some mothers with an online and print campaign for Motrin that implied moms carry their babies as fashion accessories. But was it a genuine groundswell that felled the effort — or an alliance of the few, empowered by microblogging service Twitter?

The campaign was an attempt to connect with moms through the common experience (and pain) of carrying a child.

Two days after a new ad push for Motrin triggered an online backlash, J&J’s McNeil Consumer Healthcare unit is pulling the campaign, from the New York office of independent shop Taxi, and begging a vocal mommy-blogging nation for forgiveness.

The campaign, which was featured on Motrin’s website, as well as in several magazines, was an attempt to connect with moms through the common experience (and pain) of carrying a child. But the implication felt by some of the campaign’s more vocal critics was that moms wear their babies as fashion accessories, or because it “totally makes me look like an official mom.”

Ashley Madison agency “Life is short. Have an affair”

Ashley Madison a controverial online dating service that matches up dirtbag married men and hell bent trampy home wrecking women has launched an 500K Radio ad blitz in Boston even though MA state law bans adultery.

I would recomend changing their tag line to “Have an affair, Life gets shorter.”

The Ashley Madison Agency – whose motto is “Life is short. Have an affair” – began airing radio spots on WAAF [website]-FM (97.7/107.3) and WBCN [website]-FM (104.1) last week, said agency CEO and president Noel Biderman.
